Today’s Weather in Hastings
At a glance
High / Low: Lower 80s / lower 60s
Rain: Dry and sunny during the day; 40% chance of showers Monday evening
Wind: West up to 10 mph during the day; southwest up to 10 mph Monday night
Overnight concern: A broader NWS outlook says a few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Monday night, with large hail the primary hazard
Monday should begin on the cooler and drier side, then settle into plenty of sunshine. That makes the morning a good-looking window for the commute, errands, a river walk or outdoor work before temperatures climb.
By afternoon, the National Weather Service expects sunshine with temperatures reaching the lower 80s. West winds should stay manageable at up to about 10 mph, so the daytime looks favorable for patios, Levee Park or time along the Mississippi.
The forecast changes after sunset. The Dakota County forecast carries a 40% chance of showers Monday evening, while the broader Twin Cities forecast discussion expects scattered thunderstorms to spread east later Monday night. The NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook, which includes Dakota County, says a few storms could become strong to severe Monday night and identifies large hail as the main hazard.
What to wear or plan
Light summer clothes should work well by afternoon.
Sunglasses and sunscreen make sense for the sunny daytime hours.
Keep a light rain layer or umbrella handy for evening plans.
If you will be out late, leave some flexibility in case storms move into the area.
Weather Joke of the Day
