Every HastingsNow story begins with original reporting — interviews, on-site photography and video, public records and information, and verification.

We may use AI as one tool in our editorial process to assist with research, transcription, organizing source material, drafting, editing for clarity, and creating clearly labeled explainers or illustrations. These tools support our journalism; they do not replace our reporting, judgment or responsibility.

HastingsNow reviews the work before publication and is accountable for every editorial decision. Our original photography and video are the documentary record of people and events. AI-assisted illustrations and visual explainers are creative interpretations and are labeled as such.

When an AI-assisted visual could be understood as depicting a specific person, we treat that likeness with particular care and may use a non-identifiable illustration instead.
