Weather companion by HastingsNow.com
Tuesday, August 25, brings a warm, largely dry day with partly sunny skies, a high near 86°F and west-southwest winds of 5–10 mph. A 20% chance of a shower or thunderstorm appears early Tuesday evening before skies turn mostly clear and temperatures fall near 64°F; see Hastings, MN Weather + On This Date for the companion forecast.
Tuesday’s LOCAL 10 leans heavily toward useful next steps: a newly opened window for school supplies, something happening downtown tonight and several ways to plan ahead for the final stretch of August.
There are also opportunities for job seekers, local businesses, Raider fans, shoppers and residents looking for classes or an easy recycling option.
Here are today’s ten.
TOP 3 TODAY
1. Hastings Family Service adds August 27 school-supply appointments
Hastings Family Service has released additional School Supply Assistance appointments for Thursday, August 27, from 9:30–11:30 AM.
The program serves families living in ISD 200 or with students attending school in ISD 200. Appointments are first come, first served, and families should call Hastings Family Service to schedule rather than assuming space remains available.
The newly released window gives local families another opportunity to get ready for the school year after the program’s primary August distribution period.
Residents can also see the original Hastings Family Service update.
2. Comedy is tonight at Levee Park; final Music + Market follows Thursday
The City of Hastings Levee Park schedule has two notable dates left this week.
C. Willi Myles performs Comedy in the Park tonight, Tuesday, August 25, from 6:30–7:30 PM. The free show is recommended for teens and adults.
Then, on Thursday, August 27, from 6:00–8:30 PM, the season’s final Music + Market brings Sir Psycho, a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute, to Levee Park alongside the makers market and food trucks. The kids zone runs from 6:00–7:00 PM, and the Thursday event is open to all ages.
Both appeared in Monday’s LOCAL 10, but tonight’s comedy date makes the reminder especially timely.
