1966 — Camp Courage Expands a Minnesota Tradition
On August 14, 1966, Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey spoke in Maple Lake at the dedication of expanded Camp Courage facilities. His remarks recognized the donors and volunteers behind the project, including FFA members whose corn-picking fundraising helped support a speech-and-hearing facility. It was a distinctly Minnesota celebration of recreation, learning and greater opportunity for children and adults with disabilities.
1935 — Social Security Becomes Law
On August 14, 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act into law.
