1965 — Minnesota Gets an Official Governor’s Residence
On August 31, 1965, sisters Olivia Irvine Dodge and Clotilde Irvine Moles deeded their family home at 1006 Summit Avenue in St. Paul to the State of Minnesota. The gift gave Minnesota governors an official residence for the first time, and Governor Karl Rolvaag and his family moved into the Tudor-style home that October.
