1. Lilo & Stitch closes Hastings’ Movies in the Park season
The final Movies in the Park evening of the season begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, September 11, at Levee Park. Activities and giveaways come first, followed by Lilo & Stitch at 7:30 p.m.
The event is open to all ages. The City lists a nonperishable food donation as the cost and recommends checking for weather-related changes before leaving home.

2. Freedom Fest supports military families Friday evening
United Heroes League’s Freedom Fest begins at 5 p.m. Friday, September 11, at 15211 Ravenna Trail in Hastings.
The ticketed event features live performances by Basic and Boring, Fistful of Ladies, Pipewrench and Good for Gary. Proceeds support United Heroes League’s work with military families.

3. Raiders host Bloomington Jefferson for Tackle Cancer Night
Hastings Raiders Football hosts Bloomington Jefferson on Friday, September 11, for a Tackle Cancer game supporting the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund.
The team’s announcement says donations will be collected during the game. Hastings’ youngest tackle-football players are also expected to take the field during halftime.

6. Beginner mountain-biking program planned Sunday
A beginner-friendly Intro to Mountain Biking program is scheduled for 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Sunday, September 13, at Lebanon Hills Regional Park’s West Trailhead.
The Hastings Mountain Bike Team says equipment is provided, no experience is necessary and registration costs $40 per person. Participant age requirements and remaining capacity were not included in the announcement.

7. Anytime Fitness prepares for two reopening events
Anytime Fitness Hastings will hold a ribbon cutting from 3–3:30 p.m. Thursday, September 17.
The newly remodeled club will follow that celebration with a grand-reopening party from 9 a.m.–noon Saturday, September 19. The invitation extends to members, friends, families and the wider Hastings community.
8. School-board candidate forum will be recorded September 16
The ISD 200 School Board Candidate Forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, at Hastings Middle School.
AAUW Hastings is hosting the forum with the Dakota County League of Women Voters. Hastings Community TV says it will record the discussion and make the video available afterward on YouTube and Comcast Channel 799.

9. Point Douglas Drive open house scheduled Saturday

10. Glow Skate returns to Hastings Civic Arena October 9
River Blades Skating School and the City of Hastings plan to bring Glow Skate back to Hastings Civic Arena from 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Friday, October 9.
The event will include a DJ, activities and glowing accessories. Admission and skate rental are $10 while rental supplies last; participants may also bring their own skates.
The River Blades announcement warns readers not to purchase admission from unofficial online sellers. The City’s Civic Arena staff will handle admission on the event date.
