1. Hastings Firefighters’ 85th Annual Booya Returns Saturday
The Hastings Firefighters Foundation’s 85th annual Booya runs from 10:00 AM–2:30 PM Saturday, September 12, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Hastings. The event is open to the public.
Residents can find the fundraiser in the City of Hastings event listings. Members of the Hastings Dance Team plan to appear at 11:00 AM.
2. Whistling Well Farm Opens U-Pick Apples Saturday
Whistling Well Farm says u-pick apples begin Saturday, September 12. Pre-bagged apples, cider, colorful mums, pumpkins and squash are also available.
The orchard is open Thursday through Sunday from 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, while the Red Barn is open daily during those hours. Specific varieties and day-to-day availability were not listed, so visitors should consult the farm’s post before leaving.
3. Carpenter Nature Center Auction Closes Sunday Evening
Carpenter Nature Center’s online auction remains open through 7:30 PM Sunday, September 13. People can bid online whether or not they are attending the Autumn in the Valley Gala.

4. Hastings Family Service Hosts Two Resource-Center Drop-Ins
Community Resource Centers of Dakota County will visit Hastings Family Service from 9:00 AM–noon Wednesday, September 16, and 1:00–4:00 PM Monday, September 21. Community members may drop in without an appointment at 301 Second Street East.
Dakota County Financial Assistance will be available September 16, while employment assistance will be offered September 21. Legal services and an on-site resource navigator are planned for both days.

5. Hastings High School Seniors Will Receive Direct-Admissions Notices
Hastings High School is participating in Minnesota’s Direct Admissions program. On Friday, September 18, participating seniors will receive school-email notifications about Minnesota colleges and universities offering them admission before they apply.

6. Monthly Sound-Healing Session Opens October Registration
Pure Serenity Wellness Center is accepting reservations for a sound-healing session at 4:00 PM Saturday, October 3, in Hastings. The listed cost is $30, and capacity is limited.
